Critical Workers

What is this program?

The PEI Critical Workers stream is for foreign workers in TEER 4 or 5 occupations who have at least 6 months of full-time continuous work with a PEI employer. This is one of the few PNP pathways for TEER 4/5 workers. Trucking applicants (NOC 73300) have additional sector-specific requirements including 12 months of long-haul driving experience.

Who is it for?

• You have a permanent full-time TEER 4 or 5 PEI job offer
• You've worked for the same PEI employer for at least 6 months continuously
• You have a valid Canadian work permit
• You have at least 2 years of work experience OR relevant education in the past 5 years
• Your language ability is CLB/NCLC 4+

What does it lead to?

Provincial nomination from PEI tied to your PEI employer; separate federal PR application follows. The Critical Worker stream is one of the few federally/provincially-recognized pathways for TEER 4/5 workers — particularly meaningful for hospitality, food processing, and trucking.

Primary requirements

• Full-time non-seasonal TEER 4 or 5 job offer from a PEI employer.
• 6+ months full-time continuous employment with the offering PEI employer.
• Valid Canadian work permit and legal status.
• Minimum high-school diploma.
• Age 18–59.
• 2 years full-time work experience OR relevant education in the past 5 years.
• Language test (IRCC-approved) at CLB/NCLC 4+, within the past 2 years.
• Trucking (NOC 73300): 12+ months long-haul truck driving experience required.
• Sufficient settlement funds and genuine intent to settle in PEI.

• Reference letters covering 2+ years of work experience
