NOC 11100 · TEER 1 (professional)

Canadian immigration for financial auditors and accountants

NOC 11100 covers financial auditors and accountants. It is TEER 1, so it can fit Express Entry and many PNP streams. You do not need to be a Canadian CPA for PR, but many accounting jobs in Canada will expect CPA steps after arrival.

What accountants specifically need

Beyond the standard immigration documents, these are the occupation-specific pieces that matter for accountants.

CPA designation

Not required for PR, but required for most accounting work above bookkeeping. CPA Canada has Mutual Recognition Agreements with CA Ireland, CPA Australia, ICAEW, HKICPA, and others — faster track if you're already qualified.

ECA

Standard 6-8 week WES assessment. CPA Canada also runs a credential review that IRCC accepts as an ECA.

Bilingual advantage

French-speaking accountants qualify for the dedicated francophone Express Entry category — far lower CRS cut-offs and CRS bonus points for strong French.

Accountant immigration questions

Do I need to be a CPA before immigrating to Canada as an accountant?+

No. Express Entry doesn't require CPA membership — your foreign accounting qualifications and work history are what determine eligibility. Most foreign accountants begin CPA conversion after arrival.

Is ACCA recognised in Canada?+

ACCA has a Mutual Recognition Agreement with CPA Canada — you can apply directly for CPA membership with reduced exam requirements. Without the MRA, ACCA holders enter through CPA Canada's standard reciprocity process.
