ECA via WES (with extra steps)
Iranian institutions can send transcripts directly to WES but the process is slower than from India or China — allow 12-16 weeks. University of Tehran, Sharif, Amir Kabir, and others have WES-recognised workflows.
Document authentication
Iranian documents need Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) attestation before international use. Birth certificates, marriage certificates, and education records all require this. Allow 4-8 weeks just for authentication.
Iranian PCC
Issued by the Police of Iran (NAJA). For Iranians abroad, this must be requested through the Iranian consulate — slower than in-country requests. Plan for 6-10 weeks.
Proof of funds — sanctions context
Iranian banking records can be challenging due to international sanctions on Iranian banks. IRCC accepts statements from non-Iranian accounts; many Iranian applicants maintain accounts in UAE, Turkey, or another third country to simplify proof-of-funds documentation.

Yes, after WES ECA. Engineering degrees from top Iranian universities (Sharif, Tehran, Amir Kabir) typically assess at full Canadian bachelor's / master's equivalent. Medical degrees are recognised but practising medicine in Canada is a separate licensure process.
Are there any Canadian immigration restrictions for Iranians?+
No specific PR restrictions. Iranian applicants follow the same federal economic immigration process as any other nationality. Some additional security screening can occur for applicants who served in the IRGC or other listed entities — for civilians, this is rarely an issue.
