Immigration to Yukon

Yukon has three worker streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Impact Worker, and Express Entry. The program is employer-driven, so a Yukon employer must be involved. The nomination cap is small, so your Expression of Interest score can matter a lot.

Where Yukon is actually hiring

The sectors that drive Yukon's immigrant recruitment — and the occupations consistently in demand.

Tourism and hospitality (peak demand)

Yukon's tourism economy drives sustained demand for cooks, hotel staff, restaurant managers, and tourism guides — particularly seasonal-to-permanent transitions in Whitehorse and Dawson City. The Critical Impact Worker stream covers TEER 4/5 hospitality occupations.

Mining and natural resources

Placer and hard-rock mining remain economic drivers in the Yukon Interior. The Skilled Worker stream nominates mining engineers, geologists, heavy-equipment operators, and skilled trades for mining-sector employers.

Government and indigenous services

The Government of Yukon and Yukon First Nations governments employ a meaningful share of the territory — administrative, health, and indigenous-services professionals can qualify under the Skilled Worker stream.

Healthcare (priority sector for 2026)

Yukon prioritises regulated health care professionals in its 2026 selection criteria — nurses, allied health, and physicians targeting the Yukon territorial health system have an EOI scoring advantage.

Yukon immigration — questions

How many YNP streams are there?+

Three worker streams: Skilled Worker (TEER 0–3, 12-month experience minimum), Critical Impact Worker (TEER 4–5, 6-month experience minimum), and Express Entry (TEER 0–3 + federal Express Entry profile). The Yukon Business Nominee stream exists separately for entrepreneurs and isn't covered here.

Is Yukon nomination capacity competitive?+

Yes — 2026 cap is 282 nominations total across all 3 streams. Yukon employers submit Expressions of Interest and the highest-scoring submissions get invitations to apply. Priority sectors (health care, rural Yukon, French speakers, Yukon University graduates, prior Yukon residents) score higher.

Can I apply directly to YNP as a worker?+

No — YNP is employer-driven. The Yukon employer submits the Expression of Interest and the application on your behalf. You must have a job offer before any YNP process begins.
