Canadian immigration from Egypt
Egypt is consistently one of Canada's top source countries from the Middle East and North Africa, with strong representation in engineering, medicine, IT, and academia. Egyptian engineering schools (Cairo, Alexandria, Ain Shams, AAST) produce highly-recognised graduates who score well on CRS. Document authentication takes longer than from European countries — MOFA attestation and translation steps add weeks to the timeline.

Programs Egyptian applicants often use
Pathways commonly used by Egyptian applicants, in order of typical use — whether any applies to you depends on your full profile, not your nationality. Each links to a detailed page covering criteria, documents, and processing times.
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Default for Egyptian professionals. A bachelor's in engineering + IELTS 7+ + 3+ years of skilled work all add CRS points; the total depends on age, marital status, and exact language bands.
Canadian Experience Class
Open after 1+ year of Canadian work — common path for Egyptian master's graduates of Canadian programs.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
Alberta's Accelerated Tech Pathway and Dedicated Health Care Pathway are real options for Egyptian engineers and medical professionals. Calgary and Edmonton have notable Egyptian-Canadian engineering communities.
What Egyptian applicants specifically need
Beyond the standard Canadian immigration documents, these are the country-specific steps that matter coming from Egypt.
ECA via WES or ICAS
Egyptian institutions send transcripts directly to WES. Processing typically 10-14 weeks. Cairo University, Alexandria University, Ain Shams, and AAST have established WES workflows.
Document authentication
Egyptian documents need attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) before international use. Birth certificates, marriage certificates, and education records all require this — allow 4-8 weeks. Egypt is not yet a Hague Apostille signatory.
Engineering pathway
Engineers Canada FC2I (Foreign Credentials for Internationally-trained Immigrants) covers Egyptian engineering degrees and is accepted by IRCC as an ECA equivalent. Built specifically for engineering credentials.
Egyptian PCC
Issued by the Ministry of Interior. For Egyptians abroad, request through the Egyptian consulate — slower than in-country (6-10 weeks vs 2-4 weeks).
Immigration from Egypt — questions
Are Egyptian engineering degrees recognised in Canada?+
Yes — Egyptian engineering schools (Cairo, Alexandria, Ain Shams, AAST) are well-recognised by WES and Engineers Canada. Degrees typically assess at full Canadian bachelor's or master's equivalent. Practising engineering in Canada requires separate provincial P.Eng. licensure.
Can Egyptian doctors immigrate to Canada?+
For PR purposes, yes — through Express Entry like any other profession. For practising medicine, the path is longer: MCC evaluation, qualifying exams, and a residency match through CaRMS. Many Egyptian doctors arrive on PR and practise in research, public health, or non-clinical roles while pursuing licensure.
