Canadian immigration for secondary school teachers
NOC 41220 covers secondary school teachers, usually Grades 9-12. It is TEER 1 and can fit Express Entry and some PNPs. Teaching is regulated, so you usually need provincial certification before teaching in a public school.

Default for foreign-trained teachers. A B.Ed. or equivalent + 3+ years of teaching + CLB 8 commonly produces a competitive CRS.
Atlantic Immigration Program
Atlantic Canada has chronic teacher shortages, particularly in rural areas of NS, NB, and NL. AIP requires a designated-employer job offer.

Provincial certification (mandatory)
Each province's college of teachers (OCT in Ontario, BCTRA in BC, etc.) issues the license. Foreign-trained teachers complete an internationally-educated teacher (IET) process — varies from 6 to 24 months depending on province and home country.
Subject specialisations
STEM and French Immersion teachers are recruited more actively than humanities specialists. If you teach math, sciences, computing, or French — flag it on every application.
ECA + practicum
ECA through WES or equivalent for the immigration step. Provincial certification often requires a Canadian practicum on top — start the certification process while waiting for PR confirmation.

Not in public schools. Independent and private schools sometimes accept uncertified teachers, and supply-teaching rules vary by province. Most foreign-trained teachers begin certification immediately on arrival and work in interim roles during the process.
Which province is easiest for foreign-trained teachers?+
Atlantic provinces (NS, NB, NL) generally have shorter certification timelines and more designated AIP teacher employers. Ontario is the largest market but the OCT certification process is one of the longer ones.
