Alberta Express Entry Stream

Page last edited: May 12, 2026·Official source

What is this program?

The Alberta Express Entry Stream is a sub-stream of Alberta's PNP that selects candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool. Three sub-pathways: Accelerated Tech (for tech-occupation candidates with Alberta tech jobs), Dedicated Health Care (for licensed health-care professionals with Alberta health-care job offers), and a general pathway aligned with provincial priorities. The big draw: an Alberta nomination adds 600 CRS points to your federal Express Entry profile — effectively guaranteeing an invitation in the next federal round.

Who is it for?

  • You have an active federal Express Entry profile with a CRS of at least 300
  • Your primary EE occupation aligns with one of Alberta's pathways: Accelerated Tech, Dedicated Health Care, or general provincial priority
  • You intend to live in Alberta as a permanent resident
  • Your occupation is NOT on the Alberta Opportunity Stream's ineligible list

What does it lead to?

If Alberta invites you and nominates you, you re-enter the federal Express Entry pool with a +600 CRS boost — which guarantees a federal Invitation to Apply in the next round. After nomination, the federal Express Entry step currently takes about 6 months (IRCC's estimate); Alberta's own step comes first. AAIP application fee is $500.

Primary requirements

  • Active Express Entry profile in the federal IRCC pool (CEC, FSW, or FSTP).
  • Minimum CRS score of 300 (the AAIP gate, not the federal cut-off).
  • Primary occupation in your EE profile must match a stream pathway: Accelerated Tech (specific tech NOCs), Dedicated Health Care (regulated health occupations with an Alberta job offer), or align with Alberta's general provincial priorities.
  • Intent to live and work in Alberta permanently.
  • Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted via AAIP portal ($135 EOI fee effective April 2026).
  • No active nomination under any other AAIP stream.
  • Accelerated Tech sub-pathway: full-time work or bona fide job offer in an eligible tech occupation in Alberta (NOT a part-time, casual, seasonal, contractor, or temp-agency role).
  • Dedicated Health Care sub-pathway: Alberta job offer in an eligible health occupation + proof of provincial regulatory eligibility.

What you'll need to apply

  • Federal Express Entry profile number + Job Seeker Code
  • Language test results (matching your EE profile)
  • ECA for foreign credentials (matching your EE profile)
  • Reference letters covering your stated EE work experience
  • Alberta job offer letter (for the Tech and Health Care sub-pathways)
  • Provincial regulatory licensing proof (for Dedicated Health Care)
  • Settlement-fund proof and intent-to-reside-in-Alberta attestation
